Accreditation Requirements
Overview of Requirements
To become a UK TTC-accredited TEFL certificate provider, your institution or training center must meet a set of quality, curriculum, and administrative standards. Our accreditation process ensures that certified organisations follow globally recognised benchmarks in teacher training, assessment, and professional ethics.
Teachers — eligibility for Level 3 / Level 5 TEFL/TESOL certification
- Age: 18+
- English proficiency (non-native speakers): Advanced (C1) or Proficiency (C2)
- Teaching experience: recommended but not required
These requirements apply to candidates seeking a Level 3 or Level 5 TEFL/TESOL certificate.
Teachers — eligibility for Approved Member of UK TTC
Applicants must meet the same baseline criteria as above (18+, C1/C2 English for non-native speakers) and hold a recognised English-teaching qualification, for example:
- TEFL / TESOL (Level 3/5)
- CELTA (Cambridge)
- Trinity CertTESOL
- DELTA (Cambridge) / Trinity DipTESOL
- PGCE with ELT/ESOL specialism, MA TESOL/Applied Linguistics, or an equivalent credential
Copies of certificates will be required. Relevant teaching experience and recent CPD are advantageous but not mandatory.
Organisations — eligibility for UK TTC-Approved Centre
Who can apply: online and on-campus organisations, training centres, schools, universities, colleges, course providers and other education providers that require accreditation.
What you need:
Proof of legal status of the organisation (e.g., company/charity/education-provider registration).
If formal registration documents are not available, a virtual audit of your website or course may be required. (A site or virtual inspection may be conducted, but it is not mandatory in every case.)
Recommended (not required):
Implement UK TTC policy templates (safeguarding, quality assurance, complaints, etc.) on your website. The latest versions are available in your admin dashboard.
